中文摘要 | Hard and wear-resistant titanium nitride coatings were deposited onto cemented carbide cutting tools by pulsed high energy density plasma technique at ambient temperature. The adhesive strength of TiN film to the substrate has been satisfactory with very high critical load up to more than 90 mN measured by nanoscratch tester, due to the implantation effect of the pulsed plasma. Nanoindentation tests show that the TiN films possess very high nanohardness (more than 27 GPa) and Young's modulus (near to 450 GPa), owing to the radiation hardening effect and solid solution strengthening effect of the pulsed plasma. The wear rate of the cutting tools is reduced dramatically because of the deposition of titanium nitride coatings. The edge lives of the coated tools are extended by factors of 2-3 compared to the uncoated tools. In addition, the films could be optimized by varying the deposition conditions, including the pulsed number (N-p) and the discharge voltage (V-g) between the inner and outer electrodes. |
