英文摘要This paper presents a numerical simulation on the behavior of sliding support with energy dissipating ring limiter subjected to multi-dimensional earthquake excitation. In the high earthquake intensity region, the application of isolation technique seems to be more important. However, the displacement response in isolation layer of isolated building under strong earthquake is always too large for normal rubber bearing to accommodate. Using the combination of sliding support and rubber bearing with large diameter may become a possible solution. The large vertical loading capacity of sliding support may be useful in carrying large proportion of vertical load while maintaining a low value of horizontal stiffness. The size of the lower plate of sliding support may become rather large due to strong earthquake excitation. In this paper, a new device of sliding support incorporated with energy dissipating ring limiter, which is made of either SMA wire or damping cushion material, is designed, and a numerical simulation is performed to examine the behavior of the combined isolation system using time domain analysis. The result shows the implementation of the energy dissipating ring limiter make it possible for reducing the size of the lower plate of sliding support without large increase in the acceleration response of the superstructure.
