英文摘要Segmented metal wire electrical explosion was influenced by process variables such as the initial charging voltage, the electrode spacing and the breakdown gap length. For understanding their relation completely, electrical explosion was tested with variations of the voltages of electrical field and the lengths of the segmented wires, the discharge current was measured simultaneously. Results show that, when the segmented metal wire fell into the high voltage field, single air-gap discharge and the double air-gap discharge are two forms of gas discharge during the wire electrical explosion. The breakdown voltage of the single air-gap discharge was lower than that of the double air-gap discharge. The breakdown voltage of air gap increases with the electrode spacing increasing. The optimum length of the segmented wire for the electrical explosion, is the minimum length when the double air-gap discharge can occur.
