英文摘要	Introduction. Metzgeria fukuokana Kuw. published in 1978 by Kuwahara, had been recognized as endemic to Japan since its publication. Later, it was reduced as a synonym of Metzgeria lindbergii Schiffn. without comment. Methods. After examining type specimens of M. fukuokana and M. lindbergii from NY and W respectively, some distinguishing characters are identified between the two species. Key Results & Conclusions. Metzgeria fukuokana is accepted as an independent species. An additional description of the mature capsule of M. fukuokana from the Chinese materials is provided. Metzgeria fukuokana Kuw. is reported here as a new species record for China.
