Modification of the support and active correction method for an experimental thin primary mirror

英文摘要This paper firstly introduces the principle of floatation support as well as its force distribution algorithms, then proposes a new floatation support algorithm. The new algorithm directly utilizes the image of the mirror surface to calculate the adjusting forces of the actuators. We use a 1.2 m thin primary mirror to verify the performances of all the algorithms, the results show the new algorithm is as effective as the best traditional algorithm. Further study shows that compared with the force-based-algorithm, the new algorithm is easier to be influenced by the fixed point’s position deviation and the S–H’s detection error, however, it’s more helpful to simplify the hardware request of floatation support as it doesn’t need the force sensors. © 2019, © 2019 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.
