Application of the Hylleraas-B-spline basis set: Nonrelativistic Bethe logarithm of helium

英文摘要In this paper, we report an application of the Hylleraas-B-spline basis to the calculation of the nonrelativistic Bethe logarithm of helium. The Bethe logarithms for the n(1)S states of helium, where n is up to 10, are calculated precisely in the acceleration and the velocity-acceleration gauges, which greatly improves the accuracy of the traditional B-spline basis. In addition, to overcome numerical instability problem emerging from the use of this basis, a multiple-precision generalized symmetric eigenvalue problem solver is developed.
