英文摘要PURPOSE:To obtain a laser output which is invariably stable against variation in ambient temperature by carrying out sampling operation in specific relation with data information such as an image signal, and making an error in sample value to generate and also correcting it freely. CONSTITUTION:A switch is turned on for one scanning period according to a horizontal synchronism detection signal HDS outputted by the processing circuit 7 of a laser printer 1 and a semiconductor laser 2 generates laser light, which is monitored through a photodetecting element 3. At the same time, while the signal HDS is at H, a photodetector 5 outputs a horizontal synchronous signal HS and a circuit 7 outputs a sampling signal A. A processing system 15, on the other hand, outputs a sampling signal B every time a specific number of H levels of a video signal VS of one scanning period from an interface 13 continue. By the signal A and B, an error is difficult to occur in an output control means 4 and even if the error occurs, a freely correctable laser output peak value is held with the signal B and compared with a reference value to control the laser 2. Therefore, the laser output is invariably stable even against environmental variation.
