英文摘要PURPOSE:To contrive to enhance follow-up characteristic and to reduce insertion loss of a photo output control circuit by a method wherein a part of emitted light output of a light emitting device being impossible to be injected in a photo wave guide is detected with a photo detector as amount of coupling loss, and the driving current of the light emitting device is controlled by the detected output thereof. CONSTITUTION:At the junction part 19 of a semiconductor laser device and an optical cable, quantity of light being possible to be inputted into the optical cable, what is called cable-in output, is decided mainly by the light emitting diameter of the light emitting part 24, and the number of openings and the diameter of core of the optical cable 29, At this time, a part of emitted light output of the semiconductor laser being impossible to be injected in the optical cable expands as coupling loss in space having the angle distribution characteristic of emitted intensity, what is called the far field pattern. By detecting light mentioned above with a solar cell 25, variation fo optical output of the semiconductor laser device can be monitored. Electric power of a part of emitted light ouput of the laser detected with the cell 25 is converted into a current, and is inputted in a constant current source 16 for signal and a constant current source 17 through a currrent control circuit 18. Moreover at the constant current source 16, a signal current modulated by a current switch 15 is controlled.
