英文摘要	PURPOSE:To reduce fatigue in an optical storage medium by setting different output reference values in recording, reproduction, and waiting, respectively. CONSTITUTION:A switch 41 and a switch 42 output a reference value Vr in the reproduction and a reference value Vt in the waiting outputted from a reference value setting apparatus 43, respectively to a reproducing power control part 1 Also, those switches 41 and 42 are ON/OFF-controlled exclusively by a switch change-over control part 44. And the different output reference values are set in the recording, the reproduction, and the waiting, respectively, and the output of a laser beam at the time of waiting is set at a remarkably small value. In such a way, it is possible to reduce the fatigue in the optical storage medium and to extend its service life.
