英文摘要The Shidao potassic granitic complex, consisting of pyroxene syenite, quartz syenite, and potassic granite in the order of intrusion sequence, intruded into the northeastern Sulu ultrahigh pressure (UHP) metamorphic rocks at 225 to 205Ma. The Sulu UHP rocks were at UHP conditions (P > 3.1 GPa) around 229Ma or later. The Shidao syenite contains a mineral assemblage appropriate to use the aluminum-in-homblende geobarometer to constrain its emplacement depth at similar to 215Ma. Our data show that the Shidao syenite was at a depth of similar to 15km, which in turn indicates that the northeastern Sulu UHP rocks were already at a depth less than 15km when the Shidao syenite emplaced and consolidation at similar to 215Ma. Taking the depth difference for the Sulu UHP rocks at similar to 229Ma and similar to 215Ma, respectively, a minimum exhumation rate of 5.0mm/yr was inferred. Such a high exhumation rate significantly exceeds erosion driven denudation and requires a catatrophic mechanism to abruptly release the subducting Sulu continental slab and generate driving forces to push the Sulu UHP rocks back to the shallow level of a continental lithosphere at a relatively short period of time. This is consistent with the slab break-off model which can account for the rapid exhumation of subducting continental material as well as the formation of potassic rocks. Break-off of the subducting Sulu continental slab may also trigger the large-scale upwelling of asthenosphere and eventually lead to the Mesozoic thinning and extension of the North China Craton.
