A kind of characters segmentation method for text-based CAPTCHA attacking

英文摘要The most widely deployed CAPTCHAs are text-based schemes. Attacking on the CAPTCHA can be used to find design flaws and weaknesses of CAPTCHA, and to improve the safety of CAPTCHA. The generation of text-based CAPTCHA typically uses the method of characters adhesion and characters segmentation is the most important issue for CAPTCHA cracker, as so far, there isn??t a common and effective way to solve all the characters segmentation problems. In this paper we used CAPTCHAs from the educational administration site of Peking University as the samples, at first we used connected domain based de-noising, then used improved projection algorithm based segmentation method which selects the extreme, trough or crest points within a certain range as a dividing line, segmentation rate reached 80. 8%, while the segmentation rate of basic projection algorithm is 12. 5%. ? 2015 Taylor & Francis Group, London.; EI; 145-150
