英文摘要 | A16061-T6 and TC4 alloys were successfully joined via an external axial magnetic field hybrid cold metal transfer process. The visual sensing of arc behavior and droplet transfer process based on high-speed camera method has been adopted in an attempt to investigate the study of the welding process under magnetic field. The results showed that both the weld arc and the droplet transfer process were modified by the magnetic field. The charged particles exhibited a spiral motion and the weld arc changed to rotating bell shape. The droplet rotated around the wire and the spray transfer process was restrained with the application of magnetic field. Furthermore, the magnetic field could increase the spreading ability of molten pool. The temperature and holding time at the interface decreased, suppressing the growth behavior of brittle intermetallic compounds at the weld/Ti interface. The thickness of the intermetallic layer decreased from 9.7 mu m in the normal welding process to 1.8 mu m with a magnetic field. The maximum tensile shear load force of 4.21 kN was obtained and the fracture occurred at the heat affected zone of Al side. (C) 2018 The Society of Manufacturing Engineers.
