We describe research carried out on a loaded cylinder for future generations of space-based optical cameras. This work requires the application of Carbon-Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (CFRP). In order to meet the requirements of light weight and stability, a higher-modulus carbon-fiber-composite material may be used. In this paper, an equivalent model of the loaded cylinder is established. The static deformation of the loaded cylinder using M40J/epoxy resin and M55J/Cyanate Ester (CE) composites is analyzed using the finite element method. The analysis results show that the static deformation stability is improved by 32.8% using the M55J/CE composite material. The loaded cylinder manufactured with M55J/ CE was tested and the results proved that the equivalent model and its finite element analysis are reasonable and reliable, laying the foundation for subsequent engineering application.
