英文摘要Inhibition is considered a key mechanism serving the control and regulation of goal-oriented behaviors. Cognitive studies of inhibition have been closely associated with attention, selection of information from objects in the perceptual world and selection among representations within working memory. In this paper, I will describe the different ways researchers have used to conceptualize inhibition, arising from different fields of cognitive psychology. Evidence with imaging research methods will also be presented to review what we have learned about the neural implementations of inhibitory processes, particularly in the prefrontal cortex.
