英文摘要	美国十九世纪文学家亨利·大卫·梭罗以其超验主义思想和自然主义态度享有盛誉。人们在关注其个人主义思想和自我完善的同时,往往忽视或者否定了他的政治思想。他的个人主义和社会完善不仅不存在根本的对立,反而相辅相成。梭罗认为,好的政府应尊重公民的个人意志,保障个人素质提升的空间;同时公民应具备高尚的道德和自我完善的能力,有助于政府提高执政能力和社会和谐。自我完善不仅是个人也成为政府社会完善的唯一途径。; Henry David Thoreau,a 19th-century American transcendentalist,is well-known for his transcendental thinking and naturalistic attitude.When his ideas on individualism and self-development are paid much attention,his political thoughts are always neglected or ignored.As a matter of fact,his individualism is not essentially contrary but helpful to the society,since he believed that an excellent government should respect human will and self-improvement ability,and that civilians should be of virtues and capability of self-culture so as to better the governmental administration and social harmony.Self-culture is the key to both individual and governmental perfection.; 福建省社会科学规划项目“美国十九世纪女性小说研究”(2014C062)之成果
