In this paper, the heat load of ship’s central air conditioning system at nominal working condition was used to evaluate the feasibility of the application of adsorption refrigeration by employing the cooling water of the marine diesel engine as heating source. The silica gel-water was selected as working pair.An adsorbent bed, specially designed to conform to the working condition on ships, was developed. Finally, numerical simulation for the heat transfer enhancement was carried out on a typical tube of the adsorbent bed.Comparisons were made for the influence on the performance of the adsorbent bed by the thickness of the adsorbent layer, the cooling water capacity, the packing density and the specific heat of the silica gel.; 【作者单位】集美大学轮机工程学院;【作者英文名】ZHENG Qing-rong,PAN Qi-yong,XIE Chen,ZHI Hui-jie (Marine Engineering Institute,Jimei University,Xiamen 361021,China)
