| 中文摘要 | 出于西方文明与基督教文化的优越感,早期来华新教传教士对儒家圣人和儒家作品普遍持有偏见。《四书》译者柯大卫在该书英译本的大量"点评"中批判中国人和中国文化。其主要攻击点有:中国人的偶像崇拜与祖先崇拜、儒家"人可凭借自身努力达到至善境界"的观点、中国人爱撒谎、不诚实的品性。译者通过这些"点评",借助翻译儒家作品攻击儒家学说。当今,在实施"中华文化走出去"战略时,传教士英译儒典的观点值得我们反思。; Early Protestant missionaries to China had serious bias against Confucian sages and Confucian works. David Collie,as translator of the Four Books,gives heavy attacks on Chinese people and Chinese culture via the"remarks"in the English version. His major attacking targets include:( 1) the wide-spread idolatry and ancestor worship among the Chinese;( 2) the Confucian notion that"a man can achieve supreme goodness through his own effort"; and( 3) the Chinese people's dishonesty. The paper concludes that the translator attains his goal of attacking Confucianism by adding"remarks"to the English version. To spread Chinese culture to the outside world,we have to reflect upon the Protestants' translation of Confucian classics. |
