中文摘要	When designing network processor (NP) for gigabit Ethernet (GE) applications, it is necessary to handle the ARP protocol. An approach to meet the high speed requirement of ARP lookup in GE is presented, by means of closed double hashing algorithm, along with pipeline design and several optimizations. The experimental results under the worst case show that the algorithm saves much memory storage and design cost while achieving the wire-speed lookup required by GE.
