中文摘要	Persistent organic pollutants in the environment are very harmful to humans and the ecosystem. Polychlorinated biphenyls and organochlorine pesticides in sediment samples taken from the Haihe River and Bohai Bay in North China were identified using gas chromatography to determine their distribution over that are.a. The PCB concentrations in sediments samples were 0.34-81 ng ldr g/sup -1/, the Sigma HCH concentration were 0.09 - 150 ng ldr g/sup -1/, and the Sigma DDT concentrations were 0.18 - 4 100 ng ldr g/sup -1/. The contamination levels of the sediments in the Haihe River are much higher than in other estuaries around the world, while the concentrations in sediments in Bohai Bay are similar to other areas. Two potential pollutants sources were pollutants entering at upstream and from chemical plants near the estuary.
