英文摘要 | This paper reports the development of a layer-by-layer electrodeposition composite coating on implantable electrodes for low impedance and high cathodic charge storage capacity (CSCc). The implantable microelectrode array for neural stimulation enables charge transfer between devices and a specific nervous system via electrical stimulation and neural signal recording. To allow high current density pulses to pass the electrode/tissue interface without causing tissue damages [1] either based on double-layer capacitive mechanism or reversible Faradaic mechanism [2], electrodes should have high surface area in a small size, which is usually achieved by electrodeposition porous coatings on electrodes. For example, platinum (Pt) electrodes were widely used in neural prosthetic devices because of its excellent biocompatibility and corrosion resistance, however, it could not deliver a ufficient stimulus to nerves with low CSCc。 |
