Fabrication and Application of Self-cleaning Nano-TiO2-doped Ultrafiltration Membrane in Water Treatment

英文摘要Membrane fouling is a critical issue, which restricts the development of membrane separation technology. Aimed to overcome the disadvantage of membrane separation, fabrication of nano-TiO2-doped ultrafiltration membrane and operational mechanism of ultrafiltration/photocatalysis coupling technology in water treatment had been studied. In our previous study, nano-TiO2-doped membranes’ performances were investigated in the filtration experiments. And the effect of photocatalytic degradation on nano-TiO2-doped membranes was also evaluated. Results indicated that appropriate nano-TiO2-doped modification on membrane could be an effective way for better removal and reduction of membrane fouling at the same time. Nano-TiO2-doped membrane also showed better self-cleaning ability compared with the neat membrane. However, the problem of nano-TiO2 particle agglomeration reduced the efficiency of photocatalytic degradation. Then, the modified membranes were prepared by adding different kinds and contents of dispersant (Sodium Polyacrylate, PAAS; Sodium Hexametaphosphate, SHMP) and TiO2 nanotube. The performances of different kinds of nano-TiO2-doped membrane were investigated in the filtration experiments. Results indicated that appropriate dispersant could improve nano-TiO2 distribution on/in the membrane effectively. And TiO2-PAAS-doped membrane had greater flux and better anti-fouling ability than other membranes. Besides, the membrane flux with the addition of TiO2 nanotube showed the similar trend, but it increased finitely while the rejection was much lower. This research will give a new idea on how to exploit self-cleaning nano-TiO2-doped ultrafiltration membrane, and provide practical basis for application of membrane separation coupling with photocatalysis technology in household and industrial water treatments. It is of important significance to protect people’s health and improve water environment quality
